Woke up next to my wife, I've missed that! But the routine is still there, and Kathy drives us back to camp so I can keep riding.
Barbara and DJ have brought their bikes along and they ride with me for the first few miles into Oregon WI, where we stop for 2nd breakfast (yes I am related to the hobbits). We load up their bikes onto Kathy's van, and we say our last good byes. Next time I see them we'll be in DC! Still it is tough to say good bye.
The first part of the ride is fairly urban and not so nice, traffic and so-so roads. The second part becomes typical WI; rolling hills and small farms, I ride for a bit with the collage kids. We have a lunch stop in Beloit right at the border, the kids go to McDonalds across the street while I eat my peanut butter sandwich. Then Mike Yee, Mary and I take off and cross the border into IL. Almost immediately it starts to rain. The is some lightning and thunder and I think Mike is getting a little nervous. We roll into camp just as the rain stops, We set up our tents under a big canopy to ward off the bugs. I am feeling good enough to go for a swim at the pool. Haven't done that for a long time.
Dinner is catered by the camp and it is sub par. A small bowl of lettuce for a salad and a plate with some noodles and a couple of meat balls. No one is satisfied. Fortunately there are some funds left over and pizza's are ordered to supplement the dinner and that works out. I updated my journal for the past few days, and get to watch some MLS on the TV in the lounge area.
