Wake up a bit late this morning: 5:15AM but things have become so routine we still get on the rode by 6:30. Leaving camp we swing by the house that Laura Ingalls Wilder grew up in, just a few blocks from where we were staying.
The weather is cloudy and cool which is fine, and the crops are getting greener, more corn and soybean fields rather than golden wheat. We have some climbs and descents, but nothing too big. In Brookings the Souix River bike shop opens early and serves free ice cream to us riders. Life is good, eating free ice cream and watching the tour De France on screens around the shop!
Not much happens during the day, we stop for photo ops at the state line. We leave a sign on a fence using plastic that was blowing around. We also cross a wind farm. We get to see some of the big airfoils up close, they are huge!
Camp is at Danebod Folk school. It is a lovely campus of old buildings, the Main church has beautiful wood paneling on the inside and the building is 8 sided, with the bell tower in the middle. Very unusual. We camp outside and all is good.
