Saturday 7-28, Day 32

Start: Coal City, IL
End: Valprariso, IN
Scheduled: 81.1
Actual: 82

Once asleep last night, I slept pretty well dispite the ruckus. Some riders let the rude campers know exactly how they felt as they rode by at 6:30 in the morning.

For the first half of the day I pretty much biked on my own. Went through some urban areas, but mostly rural, mostly flat, mostly corn, mostly soybeans.

The Second half was back with Iron Mike and Dan Scott. Dan's front derraileur cable snapped and we zip tied the derraileur so he could use his middle chian ring to limp into camp. From here it was a lot of urban streets, we crossed the state line and there was no sign, so we made one on the street.

David Lamberts Mom, Dad, and sisters did a water stop for us, homemade treats and drinks. Yum

Coming into Valpariso, we stopped at a bike first for supplies. They knew we were coming but were very unhelpful. They could work on our bikes, but it would not be for 2 or 3 days, and they were closing in an hour and would not be open on Sunday. Very different from Gene and Margo in Nicolett South!

In Valpariso we are staying at Valpo U. I opt to spend 6 bucks and get the bed linens and towels. Dinner was nice but noisey! They have a gathering of catholic high school students for a conference, reminded me of the youth quakes I would go to with our church youth groups.

Tomorrow will be church and bike maintenance.
